Submissions

Age of Robots is the first of four anthologies which chronicle robot history from a time when there were only robots (Age of Robots), to first contact with humans (Age of Robots: Contact), to the inevitable conflict (Age of Robots: Conflict), to robots and humans living together (Age of Robots: Coexistence).

This first issue, Age of Robots, chronicles robots in the time before humans. This means that stories are only about robots with no human (or robot) level organics allowed in the stories at all.

What We'd Love to See

Advertisements

  • Single page comic.
  • Self contained.
  • Ads targeted at a society consisting only of robots. What would they want? The BFG-9000 upgrade? The insta-family? A (robotic) heart?

Stories

  • 4 to 12 page long comic. 8 pages is ideal.
  • A complete story. You shouldn't have to read anything else to understand the story arc.
  • Can be a part of a larger arc that might appear in future issues but the story must stand alone.

Important Dates

  • Month Day, 2026 – Age of Robots submissions open.
  • Month Day, 2026 – Deadline for submissions. (2 months?)
  • Month Day, 2026 – Acceptance / rejection announced. (1 or 2 months)
  • Month Day, 2026 – Final art due for accepted comics. (6 or 7 months)
  • Month 2026 – Kickstarter campaign. (2 months)

Target Audience

Age of Robots is targeted at a teen to adult audience. That means that a little bit of sexy stuff or violence is appropriate if it serves the story but don't make that the focus. We're going to be looking for good stories that are compelling and beautifully illustrated.

Who Should Submit

We welcome all voices to contribute! If you're new to comics or you're a grizzled veteran you're welcome!

What we don't want is any slop from the plagiarism machine that is AI. Absolutely. No. AI. Period. Comics are a celebration of human storytelling and AI is antithetical to that. Even in an anthology about robots 😀.

What to Submit

Ideally, you can submit an 8 page or so completed comic. That has the highest chances of being accepted since it is a slam dunk for producing a comic. Next would be a completed script that has an art team attached to it. Ideally, there would also be a few roughs of the completed script. If you are a combination author/artist you're welcome to submit your completed script and a few sketches.

You can submit just a pitch but you'll need a complete art team attached to the comic.

Will This Anthology Get Made?

It absolutely will! There is already a budget allocated that ensures that the comic will see the light of day. If you get your comic accepted, you will have a physical copy in your hand! There will be a kickstarter (and you'll be expected to pitch this to everybody you know like it's an MLM) but it's not required for the comic to be produced.

Questions?

Who owns my comic? Can I use my work for my portfolio? Is this a paid project? Can I submit multiple comics? What happens if I want to use my work before the year is up? What happens if Netflix wants to make an animated special of my comic? How do we get paid? Any other questions? Please see Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
